Mattia Binotto, Ferrari's Formula One team manager, believes "nothing will change" during the summer break despite the team's recent troubles and blunders against Red Bull.

Ferrari sees no need for F1 changes this summer at Maranello.
After Charles Leclerc's loss in Hungary on Sunday due to a strategy error, Ferrari enters the summer break 97 points behind Red Bull in the constructors' standings.

Leclerc was in the lead at the halfway point of the race, but he dropped to sixth after a move to the hard compound tyre backfired and slowed him down. Teammate Carlos Sainz also fell out of contention for the win, ultimately finishing fourth as Ferrari bemoaned its issues with speed in cooler conditions.

It was the latest race in which Ferrari's strategy decisions came under scrutiny, although Maranello team principal Binotto dismissed a need for change.

“It’s not a matter of bad luck, and there is nothing to change as well,” Binotto said after the race on Sunday. “It’s always a matter of continuous learning and building, building experience, building skills.

“Today [Sunday], certainly there is something that you need to look at and understand why. But if I look again at the balance of the first half of the season, there is no reason why we should change.

“I think we simply need to address what was wrong today, we need to understand, and then to address and get back competitive at the 12 races so far [before Hungary] and the reason why it could not be the case at the next one.

Binotto argued Ferrari lacked the speed to win in Hungary regardless of its strategy decisions, although Leclerc was perplexed by the decision to fit hard tires.

The Monegasque driver later made a third pit stop, allowing him to fall to sixth place and widening his 80-point deficit to Verstappen at the top of the F1 standings.

Binotto was sure that Leclerc would be able to "rest and relax to return even more eager" after the summer break, so assisting Ferrari in regaining its previous form and propelling it forward.

“As a leader as he is [key] to continue building, building for the team and building for himself step by step, and I think to look at each single race as an opportunity to win,” Binotto said.

“We are winning and losing altogether. Today it has not been a great one but I think there is still much potential and a lot of potential.

“We need to focus first to understand the reasons of today, address them, and come back even stronger.”
